Ronwen Williams speaks for the first time as club captain

Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Ronwen Williams has spoken for the first time in his new role as SuperSport United captain.

SuperSport United players were back at training at Megawatt Park after almost four months of the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown in South Africa.

“It was a great feeling to see the players and technical team back at work again, and glad to see everyone is healthy. It felt amazing, we still maintain our distances but just being around each other is awesome, we missed the company. Everyone seems fine and in good health, all players are in good spirits and happy to be back on the field,” Williams said on the club’s official website.

“Our main priority is still health and safety, we have come a long way so we don’t want to mess it up now, so the technical team is very strict on protocols. First three days have been about our fitness to see how far the players are and who needs more work done.

“We still only training in smaller groups of five so it’s not the entire team together. We mostly doing individual work as we cannot train in large groups yet. The club as a whole has done outside work in reminding us daily to follow proper procedures and we thank them for going the extra mile to make sure we can resume training.”
