Ernst Middendorp returns to Maritzburg United head coach

Maritzburg United have announced the appointment of Ernst Middendorp as their new head coach following the sacking of Eric Tinkler on Monday, 23 November.

“Maritzburg United would like to announce the appointment of Ernst Middendorp as our head coach for what will be his fourth spell at the club,” the club said on their official website.

“He has signed a three-year deal with the club. Maritzburg Chairman Farook Kadodia is looking forward to having The German coach back and feels he’s the perfect appointment for the current situation which the team finds itself in.

“The Team of Choice’s relationship with coach Ernst started back in November 2009, when he arrived for his first spell in the KwaZulu-Natal Capital City.

“His second stint was between January 2012 and October 2013 and the third was from December 2015 until November 2016. That third term in charge was particularly memorable for Middendorp’s leadership in helping the team escape relegation on the final day of the 2015/ 16 campaign.”
