Brighton & Hove Albion manager Graham Potter has praised the performance of Bafana Bafana forward Percy Tau following Tau’s Premier League debut against Manchester City on Wednesday, 13 January 2021.
Tau played 68 minutes before being replaced by Neal Maupay in a game that was decided by Phil Foden’s superb goal in the first half.
“I think you got glimpses [of Percy Tau]. Again it’s a tough game for a forward because you end up spending a lot of the game defending‚ because you have to defend as a team‚” Potter said.
“So that takes away a bit of the attacking quality that he has. But at the same time I thought there were glimpses of what he can do. And he’ll get better the longer he’s with us. He’s not been with us more than a week yet. So he’s got plenty of time‚ and we need to help him.”
Brighton & Hove Albion and Percy Tau take on Leeds United at Elland Road on Saturday, 16 January 2021. Kick-off is at 17h00 (SA time).
