Former Bafana Bafana midfielder Doctor Khumalo said former Bafana Bafana coach Molefi Ntseki called him to assist with scouting, but the South African Football Association (SAFA) Technical Committee refused.
SAFA fired Ntseki after he failed to qualify Bafana Bafana for the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
Speaking to Andile Ncube on SABC Sport, Khumalo said, “He [Molefi Ntseki] called me and asked if I would be able to scout for Ghana and Sudan [2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers]. But who decided? The technical committee. They refused and said, ‘no we have somebody who can do that’.
“He was trying to rope in people that can help him out. But he came back to me and said, ‘my hands are tied’. That’s what he said. So, what must he do?”
“So, I am not protecting Molefi but I am just stating what transpired and I am sitting here as a former Bafana [Bafana] and somebody that has a star.
“And it hurts me if somebody that is trying to rope in people that could have helped him and somebody that has never done anything [for this country] stops him. It doesn’t work like that.”
