Maritzburg United chairman Farook Kadodia has stressed that the club is not up for sale ahead of the 2021/22 DStv Premiership season.

“The owners of Maritzburg United Football Club have reaffirmed that the club is not for sale,” the club said on their official website.

“Their stand comes in the wake of the latest inaccurate media reports that have been doing the over the weekend. The Team of Choice playing staff reported back for pre-season two weeks ago and preparations under head coach Ernst Middendorp and his technical team are in full swing.

“While Maritzburg have been open in the past about the financial challenges of running a professional football team without a title sponsor, this by no means equates to a desire to sell the club and there are no such plans in the pipeline. This has been confirmed by the Chairman Farook Kadodia.”

“I can categorically state that there are no negotiations underway to sell the club and that there are no plans to sell the club,” Kadodia stated.

“Recent media reports claiming we are looking to sell the club are not true, or have been twisted. This has the potential to create instability and therefore we would like to make it clear that’s it’s business as usual for us – the team has already been hard at work for several weeks preparing for the 2021/22 season.”
