The defender joined from Bayern Munich as a free agent after failing to extend his contract with the club.

The Austrian International will wear the iconic number 4 jersey which was last worn by Sergio Ramos who left the club.

“It’s a dream come true, Real Madrid are the biggest club in the world and it fills me with pride to be here. I can’t wait to put on the shirt,” Alaba said during his official unveiling as a Real Madrid player on Wednesday.

“I wanted to take the next step in my career, to grow as a player and also as a person. I received different offers but Real Madrid are the biggest club, it’s a big dream and a challenge I was looking for.

“I did not come to Real Madrid to compare myself with others, I came here to be David Alaba. I want to be myself and contribute my abilities and strength.”
