#BetwayCares to Aid the Development of Female Referees

Betway South Africa’s ongoing commitment to community sport development continues to make significant strides as the brand spearheads yet another course designed to bring much needed skills to local communities.

In partnership with the Midrand Local Football Association, the leading sports betting company is providing 30 aspiring female referees from the LFA with a chance to attend an accredited SAFA Level 3 Referee’s Course.

The five-day course, starting on Monday, 27 September at Rabie Ridge Stadium, comes at the back of the recently concluded #BetwayCares Skills Hub programme that saw the brand travel to six different provinces to equip community-based coaches and administrators with much-needed qualifications within their respective fields.

With the first phase of the #BetwayCares Skills Hub recently coming to an end, Betway is still committed to its promise to partner with various sports bodies to bring educational and empowering programmes to local communities throughout South Africa.

“We recently concluded a highly successful #BetwayCares Skills Hub in which the main objective was to empower coaches and administrators from different parts of the country. While this was a six-month programme, we remain committed to aiding community sport through innovative means such as this upcoming female referee’s course,” said Betway SA’s Marketing Manager, David Rachidi.

“The women’s game continues to grow and needs all the support that it can possibly get. As a caring brand, we are proud to be spearheading this course and wish all the referees the best of luck,” he added.

In addition to the highly experienced instructors, seasoned and well-travelled match official, Zakhele Siwela is amongst the expected guest speakers.

Siwela, who was the only South African match official to represent the country at the FIFA World Cup in Russia two years ago, will be sharing his experience of the game and some insights for the aspiring referees to draw inspiration from.
