FC Schalke 04 and Umbro launched the three new shirts of the club, the home, the away, and the third shirts for 2020/21 season.
Next season, FC Schalke 04’s home look will be a classic, traditional and simple royal blue shirt with a white collar.
The team will also be wearing the VELTINS-Arena close to its heart, with the away shirt featuring a map of the streets and neighbourhoods surrounding the stadium. Located on the chest of the shirt and superimposed on the map is an image of the VELTINS-Arena.
The new third shirt is a modern lifestyle shirt in lime green and is made of soft material, to go along with black shorts. The shirt pays homage to the city of Gelsenkirchen, whose colours are green and black and whose crest features a lime tree.
To mark the unveiling of the shirts, Schalke have partnered with Gelsenkirchen-based rapper, Weekend, who makes his return after a three-year break from music.
His new song “Eine Liebe” (One Love) is an ode to Schalke 04 and to the city of Gelsenkirchen. The music video, which was filmed at the VELTINS-Arena and in the surrounding city, as well as the song, are now available to download on all major video and music streaming platforms.
Lightwolf, Weekend’s fourth studio album, will be released on 11th September 2020.
“Together with our kit manufacturer, we’ve developed three shirts for the upcoming season that will hopefully be well received by our fans,” Alexander Jobst, Schalke’s head of marketing, sales and organisation said about the new shirts and this year’s campaign.
“I’m very pleased that we were able to bring Gelsenkirchen-based rapper Weekend on board for the launch as well. His song pays homage to the city and to our club.”
