Spanish side Athletic Club revealed their new 2020/21 away shirt from New Balance.
Inspired by the path the lions travel from the quarry to the first team, the gray shirt includes red lines that go from the hem to the neck of the kit symbolizing the trajectory of the cubs to the first team.
For its part, the goalkeeper kit arrives in green with an abstract graphic added to the sleeves. The 2020/21 stripes are part of New Balance Football’s ‘Born of the People’ / ‘Herritik sortu zinalako’ (‘Born of the People’) campaign for Athletic Club, in recognition of the Club’s unique identity.
Inaki Williams, representing the homegrown players of the first squad, explained: “I really want to wear the shirt. It’s great to have a kit like this, which recognizes our path from Lezama to playing at San Mames.”
For his part, the CEO of New Balance Football, Kenny McCallum, referred to the launch of the kit as follows: “Athletic Club’s commitment is to prepare local talent for elite football. We were inspired by that rise to the top for this unique design and are excited to see the team compete in this jersey. “
The elite jersey has been developed using the innovative Aerojaq technology, a fabric that helps keep players cool and dry from the kickoff to the end of matches.
Also included is a Jacquard ventilation system to promote optimal comfort in the elite jersey. Athletic fit shorts help increase stability and complete the look.
The construction and shaping of the hem of the shorts is designed to help increase stretch and rotational/lateral movement. Designed with cushioning areas, the socks feature a vertical band and a zonal polypropylene insole to help release moisture from the foot. Ventilation is provided through Jacquard mesh structures.
