To coincide with the launch of FC Bayern Munich’s third shirt for the 2020/21 season and the start of the UEFA Champions League tournament in Lisbon, adidas and FC Bayern have launched a short documentary titled Ready for the Mission.
Offering an exclusive look inside the world-renowned club, current and former players reflect on what FC Bayern means to them, describing how much the fans mean to each and every player and how this relationship drives them on to continually win games and trophies.
Bastian Schweinsteiger describes the time when he first put on an FC Bayern shirt, “I will never forget that moment. Of course, the players are enormously important but at the end of the day the club always comes first”.
This connection is reflected in the creation of the 2020/21 season home jersey, revealed earlier this month. Oliver Kahn, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Thomas Müller and David Alaba are just a few of the players that talk through how the club has helped them all grow as players and as people.
The family environment of the club is a focus throughout, with Alaba saying “When I came here, I was very surprised just how close everyone is and how at home I felt.”
The away jersey represents FC Bayern Munich’s mindset of always giving 100%, no matter where you are playing. This attitude has helped shape and influence the club, its players and fans.
The never-give-up attitude, highlighted when overcoming defeats in the 1999 and 2012 UEFA Champions League finals, only to come back stronger and win the titles themselves in 2001 and 2013.
The third jersey, launched on 10th August has been created to inspire the team in their quest for a sixth UEFA Champions League title, as the tournament heads to Lisbon.
Ready for the Mission highlights the importance of this competition for the club and how the team are preparing themselves for success in Lisbon.
